Hotels near Faro Airport - FAO, Faro

Faro seems to be going through a transformation. There were surprisingly alot of houses and some location close to the water which seem to be neglected and not well maintained. If you are looking for a nightlife atmosphere then Faro is not really the place to stay. I think Faro is a good place for arriving (Airport is not too big and getting in and out of the airport is easy) and maybe spending a day there before flying out agina.

The hotels location was perfect and has a long boardwalk built through the nature reserve which allows access to the beach and various good fun restaurants. The Bold Octopus being one is definitely worth a visit. We were lucky enough to drop in late one afternoon to sit on the roof terrace with a drink and enjoy live music. We returned one evening to eat there and the seafood menu was very good. Julia’s beach at the end of the boardwalk has a variety of beach bars and restaurants which are definitely work the ride (or long walk) to visit. We decided not to rent a car and use bikes rented from the hotel which proved to be perfectly adequate for sight seeing, visiting shops and restaurants. Hotel Quinta do Lago was beautifully furnished, had a wonderful pool with a good many sun beds for all of the guests and a fabulous breakfast!! Our room had a large sea view balcony and was spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was also very spacious, scrupulously clean and well stocked with products. The hotel staff made our stay with their friendliness and their willingness to help in every way possible. Can’t wait to go back

We chose Faro as it has a short flight time a short transfer from the airport and good weather (we wanted a 3 night break) We weren't sure what to expect as Faro isn't really known as a holiday destination! It is awesome! Beaches, trips, architecture, restaurants, the Old Town, bars, great sunsets and storks! Oh and the rosè is lovely! The bus from the airport #16) takes 20 mins, drops you at the terminal about a 10 mins walk from marina area (dragging cases). We liked 'O Coreta' on the marina, ate there 2 nights and had drinks there as well. Nice vibe, live music, fantastic paella!

This is an upmarket area in the Algarve. It is well maintained and a lovely place to relax. The Ria Formosa national park, which is nearby, is a beautiful place to walk and watch nature. If you are a golfer, this is a great place to stay, although playing golf here is expensive. The roads are clean and easy to get around. One of the best restaurants in the area is the Green Valley, which I highly recommend. There are several others offering good quality food.

Faro is a lovely place for a short getaway. I wouldn't stay for more than 3 nights and would probably say 2 nights is ideal. There are plenty of places in the Algarve around Faro which would make it a great starting point before a longer trip to other places. We really liked the shopping mall, the beach was nice but it was windy while we were there. Mostly we spent time in our hotel by the pool enjoying the sun. The food was relatively cheap and good quality, we mostly just ate at restaurants down one street near where we stayed. Getting around was very easy. We'd planned to use the bus but Bolt taxis were incredibly cheaper (even cheaper with a discount code plastered all over the airport) so we opted for that and walking. I probably wouldn't visit again as we've done everything that was on offer but if I did go back, I'd make sure to have a hotel with a pool again as we spent most of our time there.

The hotel itself was good, but the location dreadful. The noise of airplanes taking off and landing every few minutes was constant from 6am. They were flying so low you could read the name of the airline with no difficulty. Perhaps would make a good de luxe airport hotel, but not a peaceful holiday hotel. On that basis would not recommend or return.
