Some people would not like sharing bathroom.
I don't mind at all.
Hence I haven't given a full 10 despite the arrangement being quite comfortable.
It's quite a classic little hotel now spending most of its life as a health retreat.
The big massage chair looked very tempting (and woukd have been irresistible to the trail runners doing their 50 and 100 km slogs over the mountain trails on the Saturday.
I had to get away to the nephew's wedding, however.

In the heart of the Blue Mountains with lots of eating options. Lots of great walks nearby. The 3 sisters are within walking distance so you can avoid the parking charges recently implemented in the area.

Katoomba main street is still struggling after covid with quite a few empty shop fronts however mother nature and her spectacular views make up for this. Scenic World as the main draw is always worth the trip and Nocturnal event is a new way to experience the Valley. Of course Echo Point and 3 sisters are a must as is Govetts Leap lookout. So many pretty towns around like Leura and if you have time take a little side teip to Lithgow. Highly recommend this trip. Parking is an issue around the town centre and usual tourist attractions but worth dealing with anyway.

Direct train from Sydney.
Direct train from Sydney. Very quaint traditional old mining town, old fashioned 'high street' with plenty of places to stay and eat. We stayed in the grand Carrington Hotel which has a lot of history as part of the evolution of the town. Our main reason for visiting was to easily access the Katoomba based hop-on/off bus to visit The Blue Mountains. This worked perfectly and as well as seeing Katoomba and the blue Mountains, we also got to visit the pretty neighbouring village of Leura which is included in the route. We felt we made a very good choice.

Katoomba has everything you will need or find in a regional town. The large supermarkets are available and open for longer hours for groceries (Aldi, Coles, Woolworths). The shops and restaurants close early, so check times and organise around that. There are limited number of restaurants and eateries in town. We ate at Rustico - this place is almost always full (even on weekdays) - best book ahead. We had one sunny day out of 3 days. Luckily that was enough to visit Scenic World, do the rides and walk around. We recommend taking the Blue Mountains Explorer Bus (hop-on hop-off) to minimise driving. There are many easy to medium walks along the clifftops.

The new Cliff Top walk to Wentworth Falls was excellent.
The new Cliff Top walk to Wentworth Falls was excellent. Just right level for me. It would be good if the shuttle buses went to Gordon Falls and Leura as I had to walk back along the roads a lot. Also access to the walk at Scenic World was closed, which was annoying as the walk is advertised to start there. It was Easter Sunday and very busy but this should have been made clear perhaps with signs at Katoomba Falls where the walk actually started from. I ate at 8 Things, great value and the RSL which was not so great. The Pool of Siloam is one of the best things in the mountains I discovered this weekend.

The town is lovely, great places to eat and drink, lots of attractions and view points, short drives to many other places. I really enjoyed it. One thing i would mention, as we were caught out with this, the whole town stops serving food at 8pm, so you do have to choose between watching the sunset and eating.
really close to everything such as opposite train station, 12 min walk to car hire, Katoomba main Street literally around the corner, half four walk to Three sisters and Scenic World (or 10 min by bus)!
The room is compact but has everything you need.
The hotel is beautiful and was quiet for the two nights we stayed.
there was a ceiling fan (very effective), Air conditioning and heater so your well covered for all weather. free parking and excellent wifi
We have stayed here several times and love the place.
It is very central in Katoomba and our room was spacious and well set up with a small kitchen ,iron etc.
This hotel is old and not greatly renovated but has lots of character. The bathroom is tired and needs renovation. This hotel is not for everyone but it is reasonably priced and meets our needs.
Great staff.
The staff were beautiful, very friendly and helpful. There was a light breakfast of cereal, apples and toast. Though the room was old, it was clean and comfortable. The hotel was only a short 1.4km walk to Scenic World and 800m from Katoomba RSL for dinner. There is free onsite parking and a small pool table for guests to use.
The hotel is located on high ground and the view is great! Mountain view is amazing, easy access to Katoomba Shops. Three course dinner at Jamison Restaurant was good especially the hazelnut torte! The wonderful front office personnel were friendly and helpful. Overall it was a great getaway and we had a fantastic stay!
This hotel is a spectacular facility in the heart of Katoomba with easy and quick access to tourist attractions.
The hotel itself looks like a beautiful antique museum in which you can take heaps of fabulous photos...
Overall, that was an awesome experience and I definitely recommend this hotel.
This place is hidden treasure .. lovely old heritage hotel with a very cosy character at a very affordable price .I loved the decor of this place with amazing paper walls and old sofas and tables .It is very lovely place with the breakfast and friendly staff .
A very cozy hotel with character. We enjoyed the little hotel feel of the building as well as its superb location in Katoomba. Both city centre and awesome walking trails were within reasonable walking distance. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Very cosy nice atmosphere hotel. Decor was classy and so pretty. Hot shower was working perfect. Staffs were very friendly. Location was perfect. It was very easy to go around Katoomba town and easy access to hiking tracks.
Was a basic clean room. Bed and pillows were decent and the staff were excellent. The location is great, only a short distance from central Katoomba, hotel has plenty of parking, and the pool is clean and well maintained.
Everything. The staff were great, the rooms better than in several 5 star hotels I've stayed in. If you're going to Katoomba, stay here - as I will again in a few months time when the weather is better.
The view, the creepy ambience, and staff made this a killer place to stay. They room had a few signs of age of the hotel but that goes with the territory when staying in a historic property.
Nicely located in the heart of Katoomba, walking distance from the restaurants shops, the Three Sister Lookout. Friendly staff and parking spots. Would stay again.
The staff at the Katoomba Hotel were well above standard. They went out of their way to help us - genuine, caring customer service is a rare thing these days.
