The room was quiet, but there was a faulty air conditioner / heater unit that automatically started up at 7:00am each morning, making sound like heavy raining on a tin roof. This was a bit disturbing and it woke me up. I did report it to reception, so I can only hope that this was rectified ready for the next guest to use that room.
The room was at the end of a corridor, meaning no footfall of other guests passing by so was very quiet in that respect.
Within 10 minutes’ walk of the city center, this beautifully preserved Georgian building offers free parking and the peaceful atmosphere of a country hotel.

We stayed as we hired a room for a party. The room(s) we hired were just wonderful. We had the run of 4 interconnecting rooms all splendidly furnished and decorated with period ornaments and artefacts. The buffet spread was excellent and actually too much. We ordered a buffet for 20 people to cater for approx 30 who turned up and there was plenty left. The catering and bar staff couldn't do enough to help us.

Bordering the Peak District, pioneering Derby was the site of the first factory during the Industrial Revolution. The city was a silk producer and a former mill forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Derwent Valley Mills, lining the Derwent River between Derby and Matlock.
Also by the river is Darley Park which hosts an annual chamber orchestra concert. The city centre arboretum was England’s first public park, and Markeaton Park in the north-west has a light railway. Nearby is the university campus and 18th-century Kedleston Hall, a Palladian-style mansion involved in filming of ‘The Duchess’.
Another royal connection is Bonnie Prince Charlie who stayed at Exeter House. A replica of his room is in Derby Museum and Art Gallery, and there is a statue of him in Cathedral Square. Opposite is the oldest pub, the Dolphin Inn, but the best nightlife is around Friar Gate.
The nearby Cathedral Quarter is full of eateries and shops, and the Westfield Centre houses big name brands. The Grade II-listed Market Hall offers a range of stalls above underground tunnels which are supposedly haunted by one of Derby’s many ghosts.
Derby County FC play at Pride Park, near the train station and several hotels with parking. Booking.com also offers cheap apartments and guest houses near East Midlands Airport.

The art gallery was interesting, especially the surrealist paintings. I highly recommend the Kedleston Hall! The staffs there were really helpful and informative, and the elegant interior design is especial. The Pickford’s House is interesting too, because there’re many grand upper-class mansions open to tourists but not homey middle-class houses like this. Everyone I met in this town was friendly, like we’d been friends for years.

Derby is a fantastic city for an weekend stay.
Plenty of bars and restaurants. Perfect for shopping too.
Very lively on a Saturday night.
Personally I would recommend more Christmas activities. What was there was nicely done though.

We loved the cathedral and old quarter, we loved the Book Café which we visited three times in three days!
We loved all the little shops and cafes near the Cathedral up Saddlers street? Also noticed live music and beautiful places to go at night but we didn’t go into these this time.

Compact city with a mixture of old and new...something for everyone. Ideal for exploring Peak District, Alton Towers etc. Markeaton Park is pretty and a haven on the edge of the city. Great variety of places to eat and range of bars and pubs. Derbion shopping centre has usual range of facilities and entertainment.

The visit to the football club was great I attended an event in the club at night and the kids were overwhelmed. The shopping centre was amazing and so close to my hotel which was walking distance, the coach station has plenty of facilities food outlets plenty and general goods choices
This is a well managed property at great value in a great location. I think this is the 4th time we have stayed. We are a group of friends who like walking, good beer and good curry. Derby is a great location for all these things and this hotel has room for us all and parking which is fantastic so close to the city centre. Good breakfasts, spotlessly clean, excellent value. Staff are polite, friendly, organised and helpful.
Fantastic location with £8 overnight parking at the nearby Derbion shopping centre, quite a large room considering the cheap price, staff were very helpful and friendly. Powerful air conditioning and the hotel itself is easily walkable distance from everything in the town centre. Weren't able to use the gym but great that there is that facility and the staff reminded us we had access to the gym when we checked in.
Derby Mickleover Hotel is in a very convenient location. It has ample parking, a very relaxing and comfortable lobby area and a leisure centre. The rooms are quite spacious, very clean and well equipped. We were pleased to note on this visit to the hotel ( we have stayed quite a few times) a programme of refurbishment has begun.
This hotel is to be recommended.
Lovely large bedroom with original signs of the stable. Warm and cosy. The bed was very comfortable. Sadly restaurant was not fully open due to staff sickness but what we did have was very nice. The same applies to the breakfast but again the limited breakfast was nice. The hotel is out in the country but not far from major roads and Derby.
Room was clean and nicen and the staff very helpful and friendly.
The only downside was the loud music in the evening on Friday and the beer smell at the entrance.
But iif you like rock and roll that could be a plus ;)
t's super close to the city centre and one of the cheapest option in Derby so still reccomended!
Everything! Cheaper than a Travelodge and Everything was just as good. Big bathroom, big mirror, lovely door mirror, USB plugs, amazing food. Slept well, good room temperature. Great location, in city centre. Free parking. Friendly staff especially at breakfast and reception. Clean everywhere!
everything we liked everything we stayed in snowball room highly recomend big comfy bed good shower amazing coffee machine which was nice touch we ate in hotel breakfast nice dinner was amazing id highy recomend and will one day go back even staff were perfect
I always stay here if I’m in Derby. Quirky, old, well located, friendly, nice unpretentious bar downstairs, parking - and cheap. If you like a sanitised, bland, uniform and antiseptic chain hotel, this might not be for you. But I love it. Dog friendly too.
The hotel room was warm, clean and spacious and was very good value for money. Reception and check-in/out was quick, efficient, welcoming and courteous. The hotel was quiet from within, and just a little (acceptable) traffic noise from the road outside.
We are used to Leonardo hotels and they are of a good standard. This one is in the heart of Derby, but is a little tired and maybe needs a bit of a lick of paint. But the breakfast is superb and that staff are really helpful.
the hotel was easy to find, the room was clean and fresh, the decor was beautiful. we love the size of the room and shower room.i love what was in the kitchen for breakfast and that we could help ourselves.
The hotel is beautiful and located a short drive from Derby, which was helpful for us as we were attending a wedding in the centre. Staff were helpful and welcoming and we had a comfy stay in our room.
Hotel is really commendable... Rooms were quite spic and span.. The owner of hotel is really amiable... Really one should stay in this hotel.. One of the best place in derby...
