Salema is a lovely unspoilt village with a beautiful beach, several good restaurants, and a few shops. It is surrounded by natural beauty, wonderful hiking trails and convenient access to Sagres and the Atlantic coast.

From villa not really walkable as street so very narrow.
From villa not really walkable as street so very narrow. Path not suitable for older folks or those with mobility problems. Had to drive. Good restaurants, beach and coffee shops. Grocery store close .
Easy drive to other beaches and towns for exploring.

The street closest to the beach where we stayed was the best 'old world' part of Salema. Other parts can be less aesthetically pleasing but the whole place is less fussy and busy than other coastal spots like Luz or Lagos. A quiet place worth 2 nights. Restaurant options good too, even in winter.

I loved this beach!
I loved this beach! It was so picturesque and uncluttered with commercialism. The water was a little too cold for us to swim, but it was a beautiful to stroll along the beach. Although this was a small beach, there were plenty of restaurants.

Quiet fishing village, not touristy.
Quiet fishing village, not touristy. Beautiful beaches and views of the ocean. Friendly people, good restaurants, lots of fresh fish. Easy to get around if you are wearing sturdy shoes as lots of steps and steep paths into the village from Salema Beach Village, however, there is a shuttle service from the hotel if required.

I deliberately chose to stay in Salema as I was looking for a small, pristine beach/fisherman g location - and I found it all there!
Salema has preserved its authentic self despite the tide of tourism that has engulfed other parts of the Algarve.
The beach is big enough to absorb many visitors without being full. The sand is beautiful and sunsets are of course very special.
The village has some very good restaurants, a gelateria and lots of cute shops.
And who doesn’t want to live, even temporarily, on Rua dos Pescadores!
Beautiful property with very friendly staff. Salema beach is walking distance and is an expansive family friendly beach. There's a free shuttle to the beach and the town center, although we chose to walk as it was an easy walk. The pool is nice and you can buy delicious food and drink to enjoy while lounging. Everyone who worked at the property was very kind and helpful. This was a lovely, quiet base for our family to explore several towns along the coast.
We loved Romantik Villa . It is a great location and the accommodation is lovely and super clean . The pool area is fantastic and is a great place to relax and unwind . Short walk to the lovely Salema and the beach , restaurants and shops . Oliver is outstanding as a host and goes above and beyond , even waiting up after midnight to greet us when we arrived late . He is really helpful and friendly . We can’t wait to visit again !
We wanted to stay in Salema while in the Algarve. This small, well run, tidy hotel was centrally located in this small fishing village, walking distance to small, fantastic restaurants and across the street from the beach. The hotel was modest in every way. And very clean. The complimentary breakfast was thoughtfully prepared and good, and the dining area even had cloth tablecloths, little details. The hotel staff was helpful.
Clean apartment, well-located to the beach - 5 mins away. Followed a tip by a previous reviewer to request Villa 6-7 as closest to beach, which was a game changer as it avoided the steep walk back to the Villas closer to the pool.
Stunning sea view. Really gorgeous.
The location is great, the village has some good restaurants and the beach is great for families, with calm sea.
Conveniently located to downtown Salema and its restaurants and beaches. Unit is nicely furnished and has beautiful water views from decks on two of tte three levels. The bed is very comfortable. Owners, Jo Alice and Scott are very nice and worked hard to ensure a pleasant stay.
It was located on a pretty, peaceful street just a short walk to the beach and all Salema’s facilities.
I enjoyed eating at Boas - the friendly restaurant on the beach - food was delicious and service very good.
The kitchen was well equipped. The finishings were all pretty.
Very nice and cozy, but spacious apartment, just 5 minutes walking distance from the beautiful beach in Salema. The best is the amazing view from the balcony, where we enjoyed breakfast everyday with the sun! Also kitchen equipment was complete and very useful.
Our stay at Villamar was amazing! The Owner was so wonderful to us. We loved having the reserved beach chairs and umbrella. The food at the restaurant was incredible. I highly recommend this hotel!! Would stay again easily. In fact, I can't wait to go back.
Beautiful view! Quiet location but close to town and the beach! Our hosts were wonderful and very helpful, They delivered fresh baked goods to our room every morning and stocked the rooms with espresso, tea, yogurt, delicious muesli, yogurt and fruit.
Then hotel was well located, only steps from the beach. Our room was spacious and VERY clean. The owner was very friendly and always there to help in any way. The seafood in Salema was amazing. Loved touring the beaches and sights in the area.
I loved everything about this place. The views, the smooth check-in and out process, the modern touches and finishes, the welcome snacks and wine, and the lovely town of Salema. It was painful to leave such a beautiful place!
The location is very good. It's a great starting point for various kinds of activity: hiking, cycling, sightseeing. The Salema Beach is not far from there. Moreover, the territory of Salema Camp is quite extensive.
Bright clean hotel, spacious room, with ocean view and balcony, well positioned for the beach, village and restaurants. Very helpful friendly staff, good breakfast. Could park outside at no charge.
